10 Lakh Loan EMI: Monthly Payment Table for 1 to 10 Years
· By Tools Bucket Team · 4 min read

How much is the EMI on a 10 lakh loan? At 12% interest for 5 years, it's about 22,244 a month. But the answer changes a lot with the interest rate and how long you borrow for. The tables below show the 10 lakh loan EMI at rates from 8% to 15% and terms from 1 to 10 years, plus how much interest you pay in total.
What is an EMI?
EMI stands for equated monthly instalment: the fixed amount you pay every month until a loan is cleared. Each payment covers that month's interest plus a slice of the original loan (the principal). Early on, most of your EMI goes to interest; by the end, most of it pays off the principal.
The formula banks use is:
EMI = P × r × (1 + r)ⁿ ÷ ((1 + r)ⁿ − 1)
where P is the loan amount, r is the monthly interest rate (yearly rate ÷ 12 ÷ 100) and n is the number of monthly payments.
10 lakh loan EMI table
Monthly EMI for a loan of 10,00,000 (10 lakh), in taka or rupees:
| Interest rate | 1 year | 2 years | 3 years | 5 years | 7 years | 10 years |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 8% | 86,988 | 45,227 | 31,336 | 20,276 | 15,586 | 12,133 |
| 9% | 87,451 | 45,685 | 31,800 | 20,758 | 16,089 | 12,668 |
| 10% | 87,916 | 46,145 | 32,267 | 21,247 | 16,601 | 13,215 |
| 11% | 88,382 | 46,608 | 32,739 | 21,742 | 17,122 | 13,775 |
| 12% | 88,849 | 47,073 | 33,214 | 22,244 | 17,653 | 14,347 |
| 13% | 89,317 | 47,542 | 33,694 | 22,753 | 18,192 | 14,931 |
| 14% | 89,787 | 48,013 | 34,178 | 23,268 | 18,740 | 15,527 |
| 15% | 90,258 | 48,487 | 34,665 | 23,790 | 19,297 | 16,133 |
Two patterns stand out: a longer tenure means a smaller EMI, and every extra 1% of interest adds a noticeable amount each month.
Total interest on a 10 lakh loan at 12%
A lower EMI isn't always cheaper. Stretching the loan out means paying interest for longer:
| Tenure | Monthly EMI | Total paid | Total interest |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 year | 88,849 | 1,066,185 | 66,185 |
| 2 years | 47,073 | 1,129,763 | 129,763 |
| 3 years | 33,214 | 1,195,715 | 195,715 |
| 5 years | 22,244 | 1,334,667 | 334,667 |
| 7 years | 17,653 | 1,482,830 | 482,830 |
| 10 years | 14,347 | 1,721,651 | 721,651 |
Borrowing for 10 years instead of 3 cuts the EMI by more than half, but the total interest is about 3.7 times as much.
EMI for other loan amounts (12% interest)
| Loan amount | 3 years | 5 years | 10 years |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 lakh | 3,321 | 2,224 | 1,435 |
| 2 lakh | 6,643 | 4,449 | 2,869 |
| 3 lakh | 9,964 | 6,673 | 4,304 |
| 5 lakh | 16,607 | 11,122 | 7,174 |
| 10 lakh | 33,214 | 22,244 | 14,347 |
| 15 lakh | 49,821 | 33,367 | 21,521 |
| 20 lakh | 66,429 | 44,489 | 28,694 |
| 25 lakh | 83,036 | 55,611 | 35,868 |
| 50 lakh | 166,072 | 111,222 | 71,735 |
The EMI scales in a straight line with the loan amount, so a 20 lakh loan costs exactly twice as much per month as a 10 lakh loan at the same rate and tenure.
How to pay less on a loan
- Choose the shortest tenure you can comfortably afford. It's the biggest single way to cut total interest.
- Compare the full cost, not just the rate. Processing fees, insurance and other charges can add up.
- Make extra payments early if your lender allows it without heavy penalties. Early payments reduce the balance that interest is charged on.
- Keep the EMI affordable. A common guideline is to keep all loan payments within a manageable share of your take-home pay. Our guide to the 50/30/20 budget rule shows one way to plan it.
This table is a maths guide, not financial advice. Your bank's offer may calculate interest differently, so always check the exact terms.

Quick recap
- The EMI on a 10 lakh loan at 12% is about 33,214 a month over 3 years, 22,244 over 5 years and 14,347 over 10 years.
- Longer tenures lower the EMI but raise the total interest.
